I love all four seasons, but nothing is more pure and beautiful than the sight of freshly fallen snow in the winter. Winter is also a great time to indulge in your favorite comfort foods! I am obsessed with baking desserts, but my good friend Sacha Taylor-Blaze hipped me to using the good ole’ oven for the most important meal of the day by introducing me to oven-baked Eggnog French Toast. I played around with her recipe a bit and made it a Pleasant family favorite!
For an amazing breakfast treat to keep you warm and cozy, try the recipe out for yourself! It’s great as a Valentine’s Day treat for you and your special someone or your entire family! Spread the love and enjoy!
You will need good quality bread like Italian, Challah, French Bread, or my personal favorite, Portuguese Bread. Slice it to about ¾ inch thick. You’ll need about 6 to 8 slices depending on the shape and size of the bread, enough to fit flatly, without overlapping in 9” x 14” shallow dish.
Eggnog French Toast
3 eggs
1 cup of Turkey Hill Egg Nog
½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of rum
1 teaspoon of Kahlua
Pinch of salt
For best results, soak the bread slices in the mix and refrigerate overnight. You’ll half extra mix leftover that you should use to pour over the slices again (about halfway through the process) once the bread has soaked up the mixture. Preheat oven to 375. Place slices on buttered parchment paper and place back in shallow pan. Bake for 15 or 20 minutes until golden brown on top. Use tongs to flip slices over for even brown color. Serve while hot! Top with fresh fruit, fresh maple syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar! I love it with turkey bacon or sausage on the side.
